EVA MAY: A LIONESS IN A LION'S JUNGLE

This week we spoke to the sexy singer from Botswana, Eva May.The former Big Brother contestant has just released her single, Ping Me, featuring Buffalo Souljah, and she has another two singles nearing release this month.
We chat to Eva to find out more about her career and exactly why this pop star is not letting fame or recent success get to her head.
Hi Eva, welcome to ZAlebs! How are you doing this week?
I’m great but I’m very tired as well. I got to bed at about 4am and I still had commitments at 7am so it’s been a tiring few days for me.
Big Brother Mzansi kicked off this week and we were at the launch. Do you ever feel nostalgic?
Sometimes I do, and sometimes not really. I watched the Big Brother Mzansi opening for 10minutes, but I had to travel afterwards so I missed the rest. With last year’s Big Brother Africa:The Chase, I watched a lot and kept up with it. You do get a little nostalgic remembering the house and where you used to chill.
Do you feel like your BB experience helped you get to where you are in the music industry?
I think to a certain extent it definitely did. The music industry is difficult to break into, especially for us females. Companies and record labels want some sort of reference they can associate you with, and Big Brother was mine. There are many people who are more deserving of my spot in the limelight, but I’m thankful that Big Brother pushed my career and I just want to do the best I can now that I’m here.
Let’s talk about Ping Me, how did it come about?
I was not familiar with West African sounds and West African music a few years ago. They played that kind of music a lot on Big Brother and I fell in love with it! After that when I was back into my music I got to do the collaboration with Buffalo Souljah. I didn’t want it to sound like too much of a western, poppy type of song. I wanted something that people can dance to. So I went to the African dance, reggae, dancehall type of track.
You’ve already got a follow up single, tell us a little more about it?
I’ve got one with a big African male artist that I’ve collaborated with! I can’t say too much, buthe’s very known, very popular and very celebrated. The other single we’re busy working on is a little more meaningful to women something they can relate to and I’m hoping it can send a message.
Can we expect to see a studio album in the near future?
I just wanna focus on making singles and building a bigger name for myself. The album will follow after that, but not in the near future.
At the moment can we see you at any gigs and shows?
I’ve only recently signed with a label so now, I’m hoping that, by God’s grace,  something will happen. When I started, I was on my own and the only gigs I could land were in Botswana, and that helped. I’ve set my mark in Botswana, and I’m glad that I’ve got a good team behind me. My objective now is to move forward.
As a relative newcomer to the game, do you think management makes a massive difference to your chances of success as an upcoming artist?
The reality is that you need some sort of backing from people who know what they’re doing. Africans don’t really know what to do with their talent actually. How often do. With the right team it sort of like prolongs and extends your life cycle in the music
What advice do you have for the next Eva May?
My advice is mainly for females. It’s a hard industry, it’s a male disappointed industry. Just look at the Big Sean last weekend, there were no females on the line-up. It doesn’t matter how good you are or how much talent you havepeople will come with their negative comments to get you down. The reality is we’re in Africa. I’m glad I didn’t take these comments to heart when I was coming up. Don’t let anyone discourage you, someone who doesn’t know your vision. Believe in your talent!

Final Touches To Personal Brands

With a running theme of creativity and reflection on their identities throughout the week , Big Brother gives the Housemates the rest of the afternoon to put the final touches to their personal brands and assemble their promotional material.

The Housemates have to prepare for their presentation and complete their logos, slogans and posters. In addition they must also complete their novelty item designs as well as their brand promotional advertisements.

For tonight’s presentation, Housemates will find an easel and a table in the garden. One by one, Housemates showcase the work that they have been doing all week. Housemates are given three minutes to present the elements of their brand.

Who do you think has already built a strong brand of themselves? Look out as the Housemates express themselves and present their brand tonight.

Housemates funk it up!

You just cannot miss Lexi this morning. After a colourful workout and hot shower she came out in a spunky grey form fitting get-up. This after she had informed Mandla and Poolie>

that she felt beautiful today.

Lexi’s high spirits seem to have rubbed off on the Housemates as there is the sense that some took their time to add colour and life to their looks for today.

Mzamo and Thando walked into the garden as if they had stepped off the catwalks of New York fashion week. From Vanessa signature rouge lip to Loko pink Audrey Hepburn rims and fuchsia sweater to follow.

I think we can all agree that the Housemates are making a statement and love putting on a show. We can’t to see what new titillating outfits they pull out of the bag for Saturday night when they get to party together for the first time in the Big Brother Mzansi House.

Poolie wants Jenayne!

In his Diary Session, Poolie was asked a question about who he would choose from the Chamber to join them in the House. Poolie picked Jenayne and told Biggie that he prefered her to the other Chambermates. Biggie asked what his reasons were for the decision. Poolie explained that he thinks that Jenayne would make a great addition to the House because she sounded fun.

When asked about what he thought about Wechat and which questions he would ask the Chambermates during their chats, he replied by saying that he would not ask the Chambermates complicated questions but he would ask chilled questions such as their experience in the Chamber and if they had alcohol available.

Do you think Jenayne will make it to the House and join Poolie?

Cellulite and stretch marks-which is which

Earlier today, Housemates got into a 'body' debate. The girls as you can imagine felt passionate about this topic with Vanessa trying to explain to the boys that not all girls are cut out to be FHM models and men have unrealistic expectations of a woman's body. Can anyone spell 'airbrushed'?

Lexi felt differently and stated that a woman's stretch marks and cellulite were all part of her sexy imperfections. She went on to explain that guys will cheat on you regardless of what your body looks like.

According to a popular website where girls pose questions to boys, the response was that men could care less about stretch marks and cellulite if their chosen partner was a great person. Surprisingly, boys also mentioned that girls are far more critical of their bodies than they would ever be!

So relax girls, guaranteed you look so much better than you think!

The guys kill it in the Chambermate puzzle challenge

After the girls and guys both painted their respective puzzles and swapped them in order to start the challenge, all the Housemates got comfortable in the lounge and began to watch. It began with Jenayne , Nku and Iris all wearing sexy animal ears and attempting to decipher the yellow, speaker box inscribed puzzle.

Jenayne was the most prominent participant in the challenge while Iris just sat back and watched, the challenge took the girls quite a long time which in turn frustrated the Housemates, especially Mandla andSol, who was literally shouting at the screen .

When the girls were done, there was a considerable amount of affection shown from Paris toward Iris, which definitely got the Housemates tongues wagging.

The guys challenge was a complete wildcard, they were able to put together their puzzle in a matter of minutes which severely irritated the girls and lead them to a very clear win. Well done to Kgosi, Mbali and Paris.

South Africa: How Are The Chambermates Feeling?

The Secret is out! And so are the Chambermates, out of the House that is. The 6 Chambermates exiled from the House have come so close yet still seem so far.Jenayne, Iris, Mbali, Kgosi, Paris and 29 Nku have been separated from their Housemates thanks to Biggie’s twist in the tale. And how will the 12 Housemates react when they find out there are 6 more Big Brother Mzansi contestants in the form of Chambermates!
This is a really bitter pill to swallow. And the plot thickens Big Brother Mzansi’sChambermate Nku is roomates with Nzamo in real life! I mean what a twist, Mzamo is in the main House and Nku is a Chambermate, I mean WHAT?!
Now, Biggie’s twist is this: Only a certain number of Chambermates will get to join the competition in the Big Brother House, let’s be clear, only 14 Housemates in total for Big Brother Mzansi Secrets, oh my, that means 4 housemates are going home, after all that hard work! How gutting, Biggie can be so nasty!
These Chambermates are very confused. Not even Lungile will know what will happen next? And they are all in purple?! Hey?
Iris: “We are not really Housemates”- well at least she knows it!
